Principal's Message

Dear Carmel family:                                                                                                                                              August 8, 201

Welcome back to Carmel Elementary School, home of the Cougars!  We hope you’ve had a restful summer and are ready for an exciting year. For all you first time Cougars, welcome!

We want your child to be happy and successful at Carmel, and believe that you play a key role. That role is to continually show interest in and support for your child. The child, who knows that his or her family is interested in and supports the school program, will almost always have fewer problems in school and will enjoy greater success.

Our school theme this year is “Cougars Have Character”.  Our goal is to teach children good character traits. Each month we will highlight a specific character trait that reinforces good citizenship.  Your child’s teacher will provide more information on this through weekly/monthly correspondence.

We believe in fair and consistent discipline that encourages students to be responsible individuals. At school, we try to create a safe environment where courtesy and kindness prevail, and where there is respect for differences in other people, customs, and cultures.

Please share with your child’s teacher any information regarding his or her special needs that will help us better serve your family. We believe that communication among parents, students, and teachers is critical in assuring student success.

Please remember that your child’s daily attendance is critical in his or her academic success. Daily attendance, including arriving on time and remaining at school for the entire day, will result in increased student achievement. Please see the daily schedule below, for accurate start and dismissal times.

Also, please label all of your child’s personal belongings. Lunch pails, backpacks, sweaters, and jackets are more likely to find their way home when they are properly labeled. Expensive electronic toys and devices do not belong at school, and we cannot be responsible for lost or stolen items.

Once again, welcome back! If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to give us a call.

Sincerely,

Sue Knuth

Principal
